I am enjoying watching a couple of Mourning Doves building their nest in a crepe myrtle right outside my back door. She is hovering close by and he is steadily bringing thin twigs to create their perfect nest for the squabs. Both parents will incubate and care for the young. What a privilege to watch as they work together!
Of course, it is spring so maybe this is not so unusual, but in a season filled with virus and pandemic discussion, it is a fine diversion.
The doves are observing neighbors and strangers building nests of kindness ~ a wonderful balance to dire news and sad losses. Shared food, smiles, calls to check on friends and family, and generous contributions. These soften the load of those in need and remind us that in KINDNESS we are at our best!
And it will take all of us working together to build the nests we need now.
Be Kind.
